Suffering from neck pains is not something that can be endured for so long. The human neck is central to the health of the body and you can hardly do anything with much success if you are suffering from acute or severe neck pains. There are exercises for neck pain but these should be done with care so that you do not end up injuring yourself more, or even aggravating the pains altogether. Before going into the exercises for neck pain that you can undertake to give yourself relief from neck pains, you need to note that you must stop with any of the exercises to be highlighted here when you notice that you are feeling light-headed, dizzy or experiencing fainting and disorientation. You are also warned to stop these exercises to catch your breath when you observe that any particular exercise is causing you more pains in the affected neck region or it appears to aggravate the problem.

Before going into these exercises for neck pain, what do you stand to gain by them? You basically stand to get relief from your acute or severe neck pains from these exercises, and you might likely get a total cure without even a recourse to medications when the exercises are done properly. It is possible to get total relief and possible cure without taking any drugs when you do these exercises under the supervision of a doctor or therapist, and you must actually not undertake any dangerous type of exercise without seeking medical approval first. With this background, what then are the exercises for neck pain that you must do when you are suffering from neck pain and not being able to do anything else?

  1. a.       Neck stretches: There are several kinds of neck stretches but they all serve to strengthen the neck and relieve the muscles, while also restoring the health of the discs in the affected area. With any type of neck stretch exercises, there is also flow of blood to muscles that could have been stressed and tensed. For the neck stretches, hold one side of your neck with one hand, then gently crane your neck to one side of your body, and hold it in position for some 10 seconds before craning it to the other side and holding it in position for some more seconds.
  2. b.      Neck strengthening: You must always gently move your neck this way or that and in a circular motion for some seconds in order to encourage the flow of blood and to strengthen the neck muscles. To strengthen your neck, you must also take care that you do not sleep on any hard surface like planks and floors, but you must always use soft pillows to sleep so that you do not end up straining muscles and sore points in your neck.
  3. c.       Aerobic exercises: As part of your aerobic exercises, you can use the treadmill every day until you feel better in your neck, you can go on short walks and runs, you can use the stationary bike and any slight fitness exercises for neck pain to increase blood flow to tensed-up parts of your neck and body.
